THE BEST FOUNDATION EVER!! March 6, 2010 Kathy A. Pierce This is the best foundation I have ever tried. It covers your face fantastically without that oily liquid foundation feal. I will NEVER use liquid foundation ever again. This product will not clog your pores and it's ok if you forget to wash your face before bedtime. You will not break out with zits!
NOT for normal and oily skin types. NOT for dry either . . . February 26, 2010 T. Minnick (Bellevue, WA) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Are you going to expose your face to air? Get ready for the oxidation of this product. Lovely look, I must say!
Got oily skin? Or a nose that gets a little shiny later in the day or in warmer weather? Get ready for a disgusting meltdown. As this "powder" combines with your natural oils it turns into a liquid foundation (This product is exactly that, minus the liquid. It contains much of the same ingredients liquid foundations use to color their products.) Don't believe me? Take a look at the ingredients for yourself.
Main ingredient of Bare Ecentuals: Bismuth Oxychloride
Where does bismuth oxychloride come from?
Bismuth oxychloride is not an ingredient you find very often in natural circumstances. It is a by-product of copper and lead refining and it can be found on the periodic table too. What may surprise you is that bismuth oxychloride resembles arsenic and antimony chemically. It is also considered a heavy metal. Cosmetically, bismuth oxychloride is considered a pearlizing agent and produces a high shine. In addition, when applied to the skin as a foundation, bismuth oxychloride often has an unnatural glowy finish. Bismuth oxychloride also has a very soft, almost slippery feel. The other form of this ingredient (Bismuth subsalicylate) is nothing less than, yes, you guessed it- Pepto-Bismol!
Mica and iron oxides- solely used for coloring the foundation to fit the needs of your undertones and shade.
Titanium dioxide, is the naturally occurring oxide of titanium. When used as a pigment, it is called titanium white, Pigment White 6, or CI 77891. It is noteworthy for its wide range of applications, from paint to sunscreen to food colouring, for which it was given E number E171.
Terrible product. I have not only cosmetic experience with this product but scientific, as well. Ladies, this stuff looks great if you're doing a quick photoshoot or a 30 minute speed date. Otherwise, spend your money on NARS or Laura Mercier.
Not so amazing February 18, 2010 Alfredo Gonzales (St. Louis, MO) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I was so excited to find a makeup that would cover completely without breaking me out. I don't have oily skin, but most makeups give me the occassional breakout anyway. This makeup didn't cover half as well as I had hoped. In fact, I've bought wet 'n wild makeup that has done better. To top it off, the breakouts came anyway.
Flat, too many steps February 6, 2010 threeA 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Bare Escentuals products don't work for me. Yes, the makeup stayed on all day but was cakey and it felt like it was a pore clogger. I didn't like the way it is dispensed, makes a mess when transferred to the cap and whirled around. Also, it is very expensive. MAC products are by far better.
Not bad February 3, 2010 M. Baglione (Nutley, NJ United States) This makeup does not offer a lot of coverage. put too much on and its EXTREMELY visible and looks cakey. Does brighten skin up, however, if you have naturally clear skin. Should not be used with dry skin because it will enhance this even if you moisturize
