4 out of 5 stars good hold   August 29, 2008

this product has good hold, not sticky if you don't use too much :) , even for my fine hair. (reviewed by Dale's wife, not Dale!)

5 out of 5 stars Best hair product I've ever used ... a must-have for thick, unruly hair   May 19, 2008
Roseville Mom (Roseville, CA United States)
I've wasted so much money over the years on products trying to calm my very thick, unruly hair. On my first visit to an Aveda salon, the stylist used this and I was addicted from then on! It's very lightweight ... not at all like the mousses of the 80s that left your hair sticky. This doesn't add too much volume, either, which is important to me because my hair's a big poufball as it is. Just makes my hair manageable, shiny and straight. Really nice scent, too. I love it!

4 out of 5 stars Does a good job, but a bit messy!   March 31, 2008
LT (MO, USA)
I love this product for what it does - volumizes. It comes out as foam and then turns more liquidy as you rub it in your hands. You also have to be careful not to put too much in one spot of your hair, because then your hair will look wet and greasy all day. I like to put it underneath my hair, by the roots, and then shake my head while upside down, creating lots of volume. However, I hate that you have to wash your hands afterwards, after applying it to your hair. The smell is fantastic, it makes you hair smell like you just left an Aveda salon!

Salve

2 or 3 handsful leaves or crushed stems of any herb
1 cup sunflower oil
2 vitamin E capsules
1 cup petrolatum USP or a similar base

NOTE: You can make this salve out of virtually any herb.

Put the sunflower oil into a canning jar. Add the herbs. Add the contents of the vitamin E capsules. (This prevents the oil from turning rancid.) Seal the jar and let it stand in a sunny location for a week. When the oil is completely infused, add 2 to 4 tablespoons of oil to a cup of petrolatum USP or a similar base. Mix well and store in the refrigerator in a sealed jar until ready for use. The leftover oil can be saved for several months, a long as it's kept in a dark location.
