Editorial Reviews:

Product Description

philosophy: purity is natural. we come into this world with all the right instincts. we are innocent, and therefore perceive things as they should be, rather than how they are. our conscience is clear, our hands clean, and the world at large is truly beautiful. it is at this time we feel most blessed. to begin feeling young again, we must begin with the most basic step of all, the daily ritual of cleansing.

purity made simple is a liquid crystal cleansing emulsion that removes makeup, dirt, oil and debris in one step. purity made simple was created because it was our feeling that most cleansers were not getting the skin clean enough. furthermore, we do not believe you need a makeup remover and a toner to complete the cleansing process. purity made simple was formulated to emulsify and dissolve dirt, imbedded debris, and makeup rather than creating a lot of foam without a lot of clean.

5 out of 5 stars Great stuff!   November 6, 2008

I love this stuff. My skin is a warzone: redness, flakiness, very oily at times, dry at others, pores you could park an SUV in, and sensitive. Eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis . . . you name it, I've had it. But this stuff is wonderful. It's got a light woodsy, yet almost minty smell, does not dry my face out and leaves my skin super soft. It removes makeup well, even *most* mascaras (some mascaras I use do need a "headstart" with eye makeup remover, but this cleanser takes care of the rest). I get the small bottle [3.5 oz.] and it lasts a long time, since a little goes a long way.

The only thing I would ammend about this product is that I wish it was paraben-free since there's all this buzz about parabens [perservatives] being "sooooo" bad for you. But until they come out with a version that doesn't contain these perservatives, there are bigger things in life to work about. I still give this product two big thumbs up. No one product works for everyone, but this works well for me - someone with combination skin, no acne, and chronic, unpredictable skin issues [eczema, dermatitis, etc.].

Another good product to try is Boscia cleansing gel, which IS paraben-free and works awesome, but it's almost twice the price, ounce for ounce.

this is one of my all-time favorite products...so much so that i've actually shared mine with friends. seriously!
it's like face cream, cleanser and make-up remover packed in a silky lotion. it cleans everything in one step without being harsh, and leaves even dry/sensitive skin feeling soft, but not greasy.
get the largest size you can afford -- once you try it (a) you won't ever want to run out and (b) i bet you'll want to share a good thing, too.

Take it from a licensed esthetician: Philosophy is a high quality product in a moderate price point. What could be more worth the money than skin care products that give you consistently healthy results?!

4 out of 5 stars Great   September 9, 2008

This product is exactly as it says. You don't need very much and it takes all makeup off and cleanses the skin in one go. Actually it is better than most specific eye remover creams and lotionsm and mascara just washes away without an need to tug at the gentle eye area. I recommend it for anyone who doesn't want to spend a lot of time in the bathrom using different products to cleanse their skin and remove their makeup.

4 out of 5 stars One of my favorite cleansers.   August 24, 2008

This cleanser is very soft and silky. It leaves your face feeling clean but not at all dry or irritated. It's not foamy but more lotion-like. Very gentle. I'd rate it a 5 star if it had a pump dispenser rather than the flip top.

Wild Cherry Cough Syrup

1 teaspoon wild cherry bark
1 1/2 to 2 1/2 teaspoons chopped dried marshmallow root
2 cups water
2 cups granulated sugar
1/2 scant teaspoon cream of tartar

Make a decoction of the cherry bark and marshmallow root by boiling in water for about 4 minutes. Steep the mixture with the cover on the pot for a few minutes. Slowly stir in the sugar and cream of tartar. Simmer until the mixture becomes thick and sugar granules completely dissolve. Transfer to a container and allow to cool before covering tightly.
