The smaller size bottle is $200 at retail this was under $100; It came in the regular box wrapped in cellophane. Hope it is real....loved the price.

Cartier scents used to be, in my experience, exclusive and sophisticated, and its target market was aimed at those who were definitely for the over-40 crowd. Makes sense because one generally couldn't afford their jewelry unless you had a wealthy sugar-daddy, received a fat inheritance, or have come into your own. Hence, I remember as a younger kid as young as 12 (and I already loved perfume at that age) that their scents were off limits and really not for me.
Since then, being someone who's earning their own way and approaching 40, I'm appreciating classic Cartier scents. Their target market has changed though and now is more like for those who are in their late 20's to their 30's. I've also noticed that their scents progressively seem to smell less exclusive to me.
This might be the sign of the times, and happily Cartier seems to try and hang on at least to its air (excuse the pun) of sophistication.
Baiser du Dragon (Kiss of the Dragon, love that name!) at least tries to hold on to Cartier's old world sophistication. Modern, which can be translated as pared down, but warm and definitely smells different. Baiser seemed to be a marking stone of the use of cedar in many scents you find today. Cedar (which this scent is composed around) seems to symbolize modernity in this day as well as the ingredient to create a botanical sensual note. Cedar has, of course, a woody smell, but also at the same time a camphorous and sharp "sweaty" note, which seems to replace the use of patchouli, which many associate with the scent of body odor. In French perfumery, they believed that offensive notes, used subtly and/or correctly, creates the sense of curiosity, which give perfume its "allure". Cedar does this--it smells familiar, but not necessarily all to repulsive or off-putting.
Baiser is a simple scent, not too complex, as I've mentioned before, and contains gourmand notes, but done carefully as to keep it from smelling foody. Almond notes are evident, with its bitter notes smoothed over by orange blossom and the tactful use of vanilla to create a full and round essence. The scent is for the most part linear, which means that this scent smells pretty much the same at all stages of the perfume.
Cartier scents to me is now about elegant modern sophistication. Baiser du Dragon is this, but also carries with it its old world aspect by being different and not necessarily for everyone.

One of my wife's favorites and I got this bottle on Amazon for about one third of what she normally pays. Not much more I can say about "Parfum"

Best price anywhere on the Internet. Other sites with close prices, advertised EDP (Eau de Parfum) but actually pictured EDT (Eau de Toilette) which sells for less. The perfume itself rates 5 of 5. The smell is great to the senses.
